Athens is not like the Greek islands. With a population of over 3.5 million and one of the most complex road networks in Southern Europe, getting around requires planning — especially for airport arrivals and port connections. Athens International Airport 'Eleftherios Venizelos' (ATH) is approximately 35 kilometres from the city centre — a journey that can take anywhere from 35 minutes to over an hour depending on traffic.

For short city trips — hotel to restaurant, Syntagma to Plaka — Athens has good alternatives including Free Now (taxi app) and Radio Taxi services. We recommend these honestly for trips where a pre-booked private service may not be necessary. But for airport arrivals, port connections to Piraeus and Rafina, and any transfer where timing matters — pre-booking with HappyMove is the reliable choice.

What is the difference between a taxi and a private transfer in Athens?
Via the Happy Move App, you can book either a taxi or a private transfer. The taxi has fixed prices for two routes — €50 from the airport and €40 from Piraeus Port. For all other city rides, the taxi uses the standard taximeter. The private transfer is €82 fixed for any destination. The private transfer is a dedicated professional vehicle with Meet & Greet, luggage handling, and a driver assigned exclusively to you. Both can be pre-booked in advance.
Can I book a last-minute transfer in Athens?
Athens is a large, busy city and last-minute availability for both taxis and private transfers cannot always be guaranteed. We strongly recommend pre-booking all Athens transfers via the App or website.
How much is the airport taxi in Athens?
Athens airport taxi via the Happy Move App: from €50 to the city centre. Piraeus Port taxi: from €40. For other city rides, the taxi uses the standard taximeter. Private transfer: €82 fixed for any destination.
Do you cover Piraeus Port and Rafina Port?
