We begin our journey early in the morning from Athens, heading towards Meteora. Our driver will pick you up from your designated location. The travel time is approximately 4.5 hours.

Pass by: Kalabaka

Kalabaka is a picturesque town located at the foot of Meteora in the Trikala regional unit, Thessaly, Greece. With a population of approximately 8,330 (as of the 2011 census), it serves as the gateway to the awe-inspiring Meteora monasteries.

Stop 1: Meteora

Upon arrival at Meteora, we will visit up to three of its world-renowned monasteries. These monasteries are of immense cultural and historical significance, perched atop towering rock formations shaped by natural forces over millions of years.

Dress Code: Women are required to wear long skirts and long sleeves. If needed, skirts will be provided at the entrance.

Stop 2: Kastraki (Lunch Break)

Duration: 1 hour

Enjoy a delicious meal at a traditional Greek tavern or take some time to shop in the charming village of Kastraki, nestled near Meteora.

Pass by: Thermopylae

Thermopylae is historically significant as the site of the famous battle in 480 BCE between the Greek forces (Spartans, Thebans, and Thespians) and the invading Persian army. The name “Thermopylae” translates to “Hot Gates”, derived from its natural sulfur springs.

Stop 3: Battlefield of Thermopylae & Leonidas Monument

Duration: 15 minutes | Admission Ticket: Free

At the Battlefield of Thermopylae, we will pause to visit the monument of King Leonidas of Sparta, honoring his heroic stand against the Persians. This site remains one of the most legendary military last stands in history.

We begin our journey back to Athens in the late afternoon, with an estimated 4.5-hour drive back to the city.
